Mountain Pine Ridge
Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve is a nature reserve in the Cayo District of southern central Belize. It was established in 1944 to protect and manage the native Belizean pine forests.

We can enjoy Sightseeing, of some really spectacular waterfalls, like the popular Big Rock Falls, Rio Frio Cave, Rio On Pools, also one of the tallest waterfalls In Central America, the 1000ft falls, which in reality it is 1,600ft, and is also home to the rare and elusive, Orange-breasted Falcon.
Mountain pine ridge is an amazing place to visit, there are species which are restricted to Pine Savannah specially Birds Some of these include the Acord Woodpeckers, Rufous-capped Warbler, Crossbill, Blach-head Siskin, Stygian Owl and super rare Solitary Eagle.
This reserve expanse is an impressive 300 square miles and is pine-tree dominated, a fact that may surprise many visitors since it is a stark contrast to the rest of the tropical country. From meandering streams and deep valleys to steep ridges and waterfalls, the reserve offers something for every adventure-seeker.
Some of these include the Acord Woodpeckers, Rufous-capped Warbler, Crossbill, Blach-head Siskin, Stygian Owl and super rare Solitary Eagle. Visitors have also been able to see the Scarlet Macaws and Harpy Eagle up close. Seasonal species are the Hepatic Tanager and Chipping Sparrow, which can be spotted from Autumn to Spring.
